How to Find the Best Auto Collision Repair Shop in Republic, Missouri

Expenses for auto body repair continue to go down this year. That’s great news if you have to head into an auto collision repair shop because you’ve had an accident. So when you do have to take in your vehicle, how do you choose where to go for repair when you live in or around Republic, Missouri?

For starters, we know it can be a little confusing when you go into two different repair shops, and you get two very different estimates! One shop wants a couple of hundred dollars for the repair, and the other shop wants a grand. What gives? Let’s take a look at how to find the best collision repair shop near you in Republic.

1. Do Research Online and Read Reviews

Go online and read reviews on sites like Yelp, Angie’s List, and Google. See what the four and five star reviews look like as well as the one stars. Be aware that some folks are never satisfied, so try to read between the lines to get an overall feeling for the shop’s reputation and work.

2. Ask Your Family and Friends

Word of mouth is gold. Ask for referrals from friends, family, and coworkers. Find out what they liked about the shop, the quality of work, and how quickly the work was completed. Some of them may have dealt with an insurance claim, so find out how smoothly that went with the repair shop.

3. Ask Your Mechanic

We put this one at number three, but this could also be in the number one slot if you have a trusted mechanic, someone whose seen you through troubled times and probably knows your vehicle as well or better than you. Your mechanic likely has a decent ear to the ground and probably has worked with local body shops, and they know who does good work.

4. Do They Have Certified Technicians?

Quality body shops are going to have certified professionals on staff. Many shops get certified by the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR). Here at Kirk’s Collision, we are a Gold Class® collision repair shop. Only about 10 percent of collision repair businesses have Gold Class status. So if you choose a shop that is not I-CAR certified, then their staff may not be well-trained. That’s not always the case, but just be aware it’s possible.

5. Get a Couple of Estimates

Taking your vehicle to more than one auto collision repair shop for a quote is the smart way to avoid getting overcharged. Sometimes a shop will match estimates. As well, you don’t want to necessarily take the lowest quote. After all, the old adage is true, “You get what you pay for.”

6. Trust Your Gut

Trust your gut when you’re collecting quotes or asking questions. If every time you drive by their shop, you notice that it’s dirty and unkempt, that is telling you something. Or if there are no cars in the lot or bay, that tells you something also. When you go in, are you greeted in a friendly and professional manner?

Getting in a fender-bender can be pain in the neck, so it’s important to make the best decision when it comes to auto repair here in Republic. If you need auto collision repair or have any questions, please get in touch as we’d like to help.
